Young Women in STEM (YWIS) is a platform for young women to come together and discover study, research, and career pathways available in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics sectors.
Our mission is to close the gender gap in science and technology, and inspire future generations of female innovators and sustainable technology leaders.
The world of engineering offers a vast array of exciting career opportunities, and in the coming months, we will feature leading industry experts to share their insights into some of the most dynamic, cutting-edge, and fascinating jobs that exist in the work place today.

Engineering and Design Info Series
May 13 (Auckland), 22 (Wellington), and 29 (Auckland), 2025

The University of Auckland invites Year 12 and 13 students and their whānau to join them to learn about degree options, career prospects, accommodation, and student life.
These Info Evenings involve presentations that broadly cover what engineering, architecture, urban planning and design is all about and what it’s like to study within these fields.
Enginuity Day
Thursday 26 June, 2025

The University of Auckland invites Year 12 and 13 women students to join them on campus for a day to experience engineering first-hand.
Various workshop activities throughout the day will demonstrate the creativity and problem-solving processes engineers use in real life. Professional engineers, lecturers and current students will be there to chat about engineering study and careers.
This event is free to attend and includes a complementary lunch.

The University of Canterbury’s EngineeringHer Day in September 2024 was a chance for high school students to learn about what it means to be an engineer through inspiring speakers, workshops, and demonstrations.

The University of Auckland’s Enginuity Day in July 2024 offered wāhine in year 12 and 13 an opportunity to learn about different engineering specialisations.

The University of Auckland’s Engineering Her Student Experience in June 2023 was a chance for wāhine in high school to gain a firsthand understanding of what studying engineering is like.
