Venue: The University of Auckland, Newmarket Campus, Gate 3, 314-390 Khyber Pass Rd, Newmarket, Auckland 1023

PARKING: Free parking through Gate 3, please register your vehicle at reception

Join us for a day of hands-on learning, and learn some new skills that can be used in many areas in your future – from robotics to electric vehicles, and more!

Please bring

– Your plans for tutors to work with you and offer advice

– If you have started working on the motor controller or the innovation challenge, bring what ever you have built/designed

– Laptops for programming (Install Arduino IDE 1.8.3 and PICAXE Editor 6 before you attend the workshop).

Health and Safety

– You will be required to wear closed toe footwear (You will not be able to participate in the workshops without them)

– There will be a health and safety induction at the beginning of the workshop

Introduction to motor speed control. Controller building; Building controller from kitset

1.00pm Embedded Systems Lab, Building 903 Workshop 1 – continued

Hands-on exercise with microcomputers on sonar based obstacle detection. Wireless Bluetooth communication exercise

Radio Systems Lab, Building 903 Workshop 2 – Continued

Programming the micro to recognise throttle rotation and control the motor speed. Testing by connecting your controller to a test rig.

4.00pm Main Reception, Building 902 Discussion and refreshments
