Testing your motor and code inside a crowded tech room? You need to lock down safety first. This week, we’re mastering the Stationary Safe Spin-Up.
The scariest hazard when indoor testing goes wrong? A random power surge or a sticky throttle sending your whip flying straight off a desk can end in a total disaster.
The Golden Rules for Your Spin-Up:
Lock It Down: Clamp that chassis tight with the drive wheels completely floating in the air.
Guard the Kill Switch: Have one teammate standing strictly by the main power cut-off, locked in and ready to slam it.
The Throttle Test: Ease gently into your pedal or lever. Does the motor spin up smoothly, or does it instantly snap to 100% full send?
What to Do If It Glitches:
If the motor bugs out or refuses to drop back to zero the absolute millisecond you let go of the throttle, shut it down immediately.
Use this week to fix your code or tighten those physical return springs before anything gets wrecked.
