Secure your motor controller (the silver box) in a location that is completely protected from moisture, flying sparks, and physical impacts. When wiring up your 12V gel cells, c (positive to positive, negative to negative) before making the final connection. A single reversed wire or loose stray strand can fry your electronics instantly.
Measure your voltage, check your insulation, and save yourself from the heartbreak of the “magic smoke”!
